Caroline Berg Eriksen, Fitness Blogger, Causes Stir With Selfie 4 Days After Giving Birth

Is there some logical reason that this woman can't be proud about her physique? After reading this article, I am really disappointed that people have to take her simple accomplishment and turn it into something negative.

Our last post discussed the need for the fashion industry to make changes in the way they perceive the perfect body to look. Well, here's the other side of the coin. Don't be upset with those who have achieved their own goal. Mrs. Eriksen's selfie is a statement of pride in her hard work and what God has blessed her with.

It's not that she's sending a negative message with her amazingly fit "selfie" or doing anything to negate what other women have or have not done. She's accomplished an absolutely, over-the-top, superb job at staying fit during, and now after, pregnancy.

I say give her a loud clap of applause, a pat on the back, and a box of diapers for the newborn. Oh, yeah... and give her a break from the jealousy.

I love this tweet from "History in Pictures" (@HistoryInPix).

Just goes to show how fickle the fashion industry can be by constantly changing the perception of what is the "normal" size. We understand that there is a need for consistent standards with creative designs, testing and preparation. At the same time, there has to be some balance because we've turned the mindsets, of many people, to believe that a size 0-1 is the only way to be successful.  It wouldn't destroy or even slightly damage the industry to expand it's concepts of what a model should look like before she's identified as a "plus" size.

As a fashion photographer, I hope that our studio can help to alleviate this perception by introducing more models that are "not the norm" into our work. We hope to display to the designers and agencies that good delivery can be found in multiple sizes.

Insecure vs. Confident

Model: NicoleB. MUA: Tally Hill. Creative Director: Crystal Harris. Photographer: Tim Harris
If you didn't catch Nicole on the previous post... you absolutely have to focus on this one. This was a real breakout session for the model/designer. As we prepped for weeks to get the creative content ready for the shoot, Nicole discussed her desire to make something landmark in her portfolio. This was a stretch for her because she felt insecure about her look and the response it might draw but she loved the challenge of doing something outside of the usual. She pulled in her emotions and decided, I love the look and the plan... let's do it.

Expanding to Nashville, TN region

WOW, It's really here. The day we pack up our things and head to Nashville, TN. Crystal and I have been talking about doing it for almost a year now and it's finally coming to fruition. It's not so much just because we want to go but there is another business driven purpose that started this planning. A business problem created the question but all that did was drive us to our knees for God's wisdom and guidance. He did the rest.

Now we have to get everything in place so the move will be as short of a process as possible. We only hope that we can do this in 24 hours.

I'll keep updating the blog with the latest news.

In the meantime, I hope you like the next post. It's a refresh of an image from January with a gorgeous and talented model.

Boudoir Session gone right!

It's super cool when a session goes the right way. The customer pays on time, the customer arrives on time, the MUA is cooperative, the MUA is on time and the customer is gorgeous! That's almost too much to ask for in one shoot.

Oh, did I mention it was a boudoir shoot on top of everything else. I would say that makes us very blessed!

One of our favorite MUA's (MUA=make up artist for those who might not know) is Tally Hill. Tally's been doing make-up since she was a very young girl. Even though she's still young in comparison to us, she's got over 10 years experience in working her magic. We first met Tally when we shot Starla Schuh's images for her portfolio. She brought Tally with her as her makeup artist.

Since that time, we've developed a great relationship with Tally and it's become a good friendship as well. Tally did the work for this shoot as well as providing the referral from the very beginning. Thank you Tally!!!!

So let me introduce, Jessica Price... not a model... just a beautiful young woman!

We truly do love our customers. We have been blessed to work with so many wonderful people. It's a blessing when they can accomplish the tasks for the modeling and still be entertaining to work with. Nicole was definitely both. Love, Love, Love this part of the job.

FOCUS... by Gabrielle Mary Lewis

God, help me to zero in.
Help me to cut out the nonsense, the distractions and the fluff.
I’m tired of time wasters and the things that pull me away from you.
The things that look good and seem important but only cause me to forget you.
Harmless things may not be so harmless.
Help me to discipline myself, discipline me.
Help me to filter out the things that don’t belong in my mind and my eyes and my ears.
I want to look at you. I want to clearly hear your voice.
Be my Focus. Let me forget “my” carnal focus.
Let me see you, nothing else will matter.
Lord, let me focus on my task.
Let my labors be in service of you.
For Your eternal glory and honor.

Amen.
